Connie Grijalva, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025 in
her home in Carson, California surrounded by her loving family. Connie
Grijalva was born on November 5, 1939, in Jalisco, Mexico. She
immigrated to the United States in 1950 at the age of 11 and resided here
for the rest of her life. Connie married her high school sweetheart, Joe
Grijalva, on November 9, 1957, enjoying a remarkable 67 years of
marriage.The couple began their family in San Pedro, where they
welcomed their son, Richard. They later relocated to Carson and continued
to build a fulfilling life together. Connie enjoyed her career with LAUSD,
working as a Teacher’s Aide at various schools, including 7th Street
Elementary. She dedicated 18 years of her time to volunteering at Kaiser
Permanente in Harbor City, providing comfort for those in need and
crocheting beanies for babies in the NICU.
Her passion for gardening, oil painting, and crocheting was evident in every
corner of her home, from the lush blooms in her garden to the vibrant
canvases adorning her walls to delicate crochet pieces scattered
throughout. She found joy in capturing beautiful scenery on canvas,
creating stunning depictions of the world around her. Not only did she enjoy
her own artistic pursuits, but she also generously shared her knowledge
and skills by teaching others the techniques of oil painting.
Connie is survived by her son, Richard; Daughter-in-law Lisa; three
granddaughters Amber, April, and Angelina (Erick); three
great-grandchildren Jayden, Karter, and Noah.
Connie was cherished by all who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and
loving spirit will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
