Columbia La Pinta

August 7, 1921 — April 3, 2016

On April 3rd, Columbia Imbagliazzo La Pinta surrounded by those she loved, died peacefully. Born in 1921 to emigrant parents from Ischia, Italy, Columbia married and, at age nineteen, came from New York to San Pedro. A single mother, she raised her two surviving children, Grace Mascola (Louis) and Daniel Imbagliazzo (Esther). While working for the Bank of America for 23 years she merited the position of loan officer and assistant manager. In 1983, she married Paul La Pinta. Columbia is survived by her sister Catherine Trani, five grandchildren - Anthony Mascola (Jenny), Mark Mascola (Melinda), Alex Mascola (Linda), Steven Imbagliazzo (Lana), Lisa Conway (Michael), eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Thursday, April 14 in the church she dearly loved, Mary Star of the Sea. Mass will be followed by internment at Green Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Columbia's name to the Braille Institute.
