Clive Edward Blaire, a resident of Torrance, CA for the past 52 years passed away peacefully on November 14, 2023. Clive was known to all his friends and family, as Eddie or Ed, and called California home for the last 86 years.
Ed was born in Lancaster, Ohio in 1935 to Joseph Edward Blaire and Edna Faye (Hilyard) Blaire. Ed came to California when his father moved the family to Los Angeles in 1937. Ed grew up in the Windsor Hills area of Los Angeles and graduated Dorsey High School in 1954 before going to work at Northrop Aircraft in 1954. Ed was drafted into the Army in 1958 and served 6 years before returning to work for Northrop. Ed worked at Northrop until 1994, retiring after 40 years. In 1964 he married Cleoda Frances Adams (Blaire) and settled, first in Carson, CA, then for the next 52 years in Torrance, CA. Ed and Fran had a son, Kenneth Edward Blaire, born in 1965 and a daughter, Karen Marie Blaire born in 1971. He and Fran were married for 40 years until Fran passed away in 2004.
Ed had a passion for cars and throughout his life he owned some iconic vehicles. He loved his 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air, his 1965 Ford Mustang and 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle station wagon. Ed enjoyed bowling and participated in Northrop company leagues for many years. Ed was an avid Los Angeles Angels fan since their inception in 1961.
Ed loved when his grandchildren, Peyton and Derek, would come visit him during his later years because they always brought him Girl Scout cookies, school pictures or a new Angels hat.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. Clive was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edna Blaire, twin brother Donald Blaire, wife Cleoda Blaire and is survived by his son Kenneth and daughter-in-law Ami Blaire, his daughter Karen Blaire, his grandchildren Peyton and Derek Blaire, his brother Thomas Blaire, his sister Suzanne Blaire (Randolph), his sister-in-law Marie Blaire and many nieces and nephews.
