Clara (Enge) Rowe

Clara (Enge) Rowe passed away on August 2, 2013 at the age of 102 years after a brief battle with cancer.

Born on the family farm in Stanley, North Dakota on November 9, 1910, she moved to Seattle Washington as a young woman and worked as a swing shift payroll supervisor at Boeing Aircraft until marrying and moving to Southern California with her new husband following the end of World War II.

She was always fiercely independent and continued to live alone in her own home in Irvine, California until her passing. Known for her craft abilities, she crocheted items for charity until shortly before her death and left 6 boxes of completed baby blankets in her closet for delivery to needy individuals at Christmas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, Sr., her parents, and her brothers, Oscar and Martin Enge and sister, Sena Carlson and sister in law Doris Enge. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Nancy Rowe of Irvine, her grandson, Robert, and his wife, Holly, of San Marcos, and her grandson, Christopher, of Irvine. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces, John Enge, Jodi (Enge) Haas, Jana (Enge) Enger, and Jim Enge, in North Dakota.

She was a unique person with a fascinating history and wide ranging talents and interests and she will be missed by her family and friends.
