Charles S. Shockency, 64, passed away on August 24, 2022 in Visalia, California. He was born on October 31, 1957 in Torrance, California to Wilford and Thelma Shockency.
Charles grew up in Torrance, Santa Ana, and Redondo Beach, California. He graduated from Aviation high school in Redondo Beach, California in 1976. After high school he attended Harbor City College in Harbor City, and California State University, Dominguez Hills. He worked for Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church In San Pedro, California as a custodian for 5 years. Later he worked in the Torrance Unified School District in Torrance, California as head custodian in several elementary schools for a total of 35 years. He retired from Walteria Elementary School in 2017.
Charles married Teresita Mendioro in 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were happily married for nearly 10 years. He enjoyed hiking in the mountains, enjoying nature, improving his home and garden, keeping up on computer technology and advising family and friends about them, fixing up old cars, helping others, and making friends.
Charles is survived by his spouse Teresita; his stepdaughter, Kyla Lauengco; 3 stepsons, Kristopher, Kenneth, and Kobe Lauengco; his sister Marilyn Shockency; and nephews Glenn Shockency, Craig Shockency, and Kevin Shockency; and nieces Susan Shockency, and Christie Naranjo.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Wilford Shockency; mother,Thelma Shockency; and brothers Bruce Shockency and Brent Shockency.
His final resting place will be at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, California, and a graveside funeral service will be held there. A funeral reception will be held afterwards.
