Charles D. Hawn, the son of George and Edith Hawn, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2014 at the age of 85.
He was born in Camden, New Jersey and had lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, and most recently, Southern California. He obtained his Bachelor's degree from Drexel University and his M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. As an aeronautical engineer, he worked for various organizations but retired from TRW.
Charles is survived by his daughter Betty Jo and her husband Dave along with their children David Joseph, Brett, and Mackenzie, and son, Dave and his daughter Ashley. He was preceeded in death by Joan F. Hawn and Joyce Graham-Hawn.
Charles was a member of the fraternity Alpha Pi Lambda and the Engineering Honor Society Tau Beta Pi. He was also an active participant of his Alma Maters. He was the Southern California Regional Chair as well as an Alumni Ambassador for Drexel University. In addition, he was a member of the Emeritus Society for the Wharton School and regularly attended alumni events both in the Los Angeles area and Philadelphia.
Charles was a devoted Christian, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Father Flanagan's Boys Town and the St. Francis Episcopal Church Operating Endowment Fund.
