Cesar Medina Reyes

December 6, 1938 — June 10, 2022

Cesar Medina Reyes passed away peacefully on June 10, 2022 after almost a decade long struggle with parkinsonism. Cesar was born on December 6, 1938 in Sampaloc, Manila Philippines. He was the fifth of eight children.
Cesar will always be known for his strong work ethic. He developed this quality as a young boy selling newspapers, gum, and balut on the street. He’d use the money to buy toys and comics for himself and shared his earnings with his siblings. He eventually went on to study at the Philippine School of Arts and Trade to be a machinist. Cesar was a true blue collar worker. He worked as an aircraft mechanic at Philippine Airlines and in 1967 moved to Guam to work at Hilton Hotels and the US Naval Ship Repair Facility as a machinist. In 1978 he moved to California to work for the Department of Defense at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard where he was as a machinist performing repairs on many of the US Navy battleships. He received several commendations and awards at the shipyard and was well-liked by many of his co-workers. He retired in 1997 after 30 years of service in the Federal Government. Not one to rest or keep still, he continued to work and learned to become a bus driver with Laidlaw with his ultimate goal to operate and drive his own busses. He was a bus driver for special needs kids until he gained enough driving experience to start his own business. In 2000 he started L&Cs (Letty & Cesar’s) Tours with two busses and made trips to casinos with their loyal passengers. He was the lead driver for many years until his parkinsonism forced him to stop. They ran their business until 2015.
As much as he was proud of his work achievements, he was motivated to provide for his family. Cesar met his wife of over 51 years, Leticia Rinon, in Guam where they were married on July 4, 1970. They enjoyed many happy years together and were blessed with three loving daughters Claribel, Cesalet, and Cecilia. They are also blessed with five wonderful grandchildren Jeremy, Brittany, D’Artagnan, Delavar, and Donovan. His children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his sister Pacita and brother Jaime.
Cesar loved to work with his hands by either working on his cars, doing repairs around the house, or pressing buttons on a slot machine. He was a Filipino MacGyver that knew how to fix anything. A true jack of all trades who was relied upon by family and friends as their go-to handyman.
His family loved him very much and will truly miss his stories, humor, and endless energy. We love you Pa and will always remember the lessons you have taught all of us!
