Born in Mapandan, Pangasinan, Philippines
Born to Don Simeon Burguillos and Florencia Aquino in August 26, 1931. She studied at University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Graduated with top honors in Nursing. She continued her study until she earned Bachelor of science degree. Ceferina came to the U.S. as an exchange Registered Nurse in 1960 prior to that she was a Capt. Nurse Corps. in the Philippine Army. In the United States, she worked first in one of the Hospitals in New Jersey. Subsequently, She transferred to Philadelphia worked at University of Pennsylvania. She met her husband in Philadelphia, dated and married in November 23, 1963 day after President John F. Kennedy was shot in Texas and died. Ceferina and Edgardo's first child Edmund was born in Philadelphia Naval hospital. In San Diego, where Edgardo was stationed their second child Edna Grace was born at the Balboa Naval Hospital.
In 1972, Ceferina's husband transferred to a ship home ported in Long Beach when they bought a house in Torrance, California where they live to date. Ceferina worked at Harbor General Hospital from 1972 until 1998 when she retired from that Hospital. Ceferina continued working part time at other Medical facilities citing that she does not want to waste her medical profession while she still capable of helping sick people. Ceferina will be sorely missed. She is survived by her husband Edgardo, son Edmund, daughter Edna Grace and five exceptionally talented adult grandchildren. Also, her daughter and son in laws Erika and Marco.
