Cathy Lynne Stancliffe

Cathy Lynne Stancliffe has passed away at the age of 61 after a battle with cancer. She has joined her mother and father in heaven on September 1, 2013. She leaves behind her sister Claudia and brother-in-law Sam Farr and their children. She also leaves behind loving extended family members and the most loving and devoted friends, caregivers, colleagues and clients.
Cathy was a loving and caring person. Always concerned about everyone, she knew whether you were family, friend, someone she counseled or taught.
She was born and raised in Torrance and after graduating from North High in 1969, she started her college years at El Camino Jr. College. She transferred and received her university degree from UCSC in 1973. She became a bilingual elementary school teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Cathy loved her students as a mother loves her children.
In the 80's she decided it was time to embark on a different path. She went to Pepperdine University and in 1984 received her Master's in Psychology, where upon she opened her own private practice as a marriage and family therapist in 1987. Over the course of 26 years she was totally devoted to her clients of all ages. Everyone was important to her. Hundreds of people have benefited from her wise counsel. She leaves behind a true fan club.
Our Cathy will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013 from 5 to 9pm with a funeral service at 6pm in Green Hills Memorial Chapel 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, (310) 831-0311.
