Carolyn Beth Adams passed away in her sleep on Sunday, February 28th from cancer. Her family and friends spent the weekend with her showering Carolyn with their love, laughter and family stories.
Carolyn was born on January 26, 1960 to Bob and Joan Adams. The youngest of three children, her brothers are Bob and Mike who she loved dearly.
Carolyn spent her early childhood in Hawthorne, then moved to Susana Avenue in Torrance when she was 10 years old. She lived in the South Bay her entire life, with a brief time in Arizona.
Carolyn's son Tom "Oatmeal" Lusk, born in December 1979, was the light of her life! Together their exuberance for life was infectious and grand. She appreciated immensely, the help from her mom, Joan, in watching Tom while she was working. The three of them shared many, many memories while living together in Redondo Beach.
Her niece, April and nephew Robert were so very special to Carolyn. They re-energized the family dynamics and her pride in Robert's accomplishments was huge.
Carolyn's friendship circle was huge – Irene, Katherine, Nora, Andrea, her YoYo's , South High alumni, and so many more over the years. The memories are filled with music, laughter, concerts, coffee, and more laughter. She was a friend you could rely on through tough times and bring you back to good times.
Loving her "dozens of cousins" she held family and friendships close to her heart, like her Granma Minnie, she had so much love to give; you always felt like THE special one every time she was around you. She did that not only with her family and friends, but their children as well. Her love was a gift to be cherished! And as all the kids will tell you, SHE was the FUN aunt!
With a twinkle in her eyes, she would manage to not only get her way on everything…. but to enlist your help on whatever grand idea she was working on. All she had to say was "I was thinking…" and everyone knew they were in for her next project. Heaven help you if you got a list with your name on it!
Carolyn's lesson to all of us is to LIVE LIFE! Even through her illness, she remained positive and hopeful which contributed greatly to being able to spend one more holiday season with her beloved family, and to see Tom and Ryan engaged. She knows Tom is in good hands with Ryan, who she adored.
When you think of Carolyn, remember to laugh, she would have it no other way!
