An Original Hollywood Riviera resident, Caroline Jeanette Bauer Shattuck, 88, has passed away on May 6, 2017, from a courageous short battle with Lung Cancer.

She is survived by 3 Daughters & 2 Son-In-Laws, Cindy Bogard, Sandy Thompson (Eric), Claudia Graves (Danny), & several step grandchildren.

Raised in Kenmore NY, she went to St. John Baptist R.C. Church & School, was Graduate of Mount St Mary Academy for Girls, Kenmore, Class of 1946. She attended Rochester Institute of Technology.

Married to Donald Danley Shattuck in 1949, (widowed 2004), moved to Southern CA, and was an original homeowner in Hollywood Rivera section of Torrance since 1955. She and her husband were founding members of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She volunteered for many school events, was a Girl Scout Leader for 20 years, loved to paint, sew, golf, walk, craft, and weave. She was a member of Palos Verdes Arts Center for several years. She enjoyed being a Docent at Banning Residence Museum in Wilmington, and loved to teach 3rd grade children to build boat replicas, and to demonstrate how to weave scarves on her loom with the 4th graders, during Banning Heritage Week. She traveled to Mexico City, a Family Reunion in Camrose, Alberta, Canada, Hawaii, and most recently, attended her 70th High School Reunion in Kenmore, NY, in September 2016.

Soon after her reunion it was found she had lung cancer and she spent her last days, at her request, privately at home with her daughters, and was too proud to let most of you know she was so ill.

We appreciate your well wishes, but in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Cancer Society, a Women's Shelter, or favorite Charity. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Green Hills Mortuary. The ceremony is invitation only.
