Carol Roberta Sorensen passed away on February 26, 2013 after a 10 year battle with lung cancer. She was born on April 23, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to Margaret and Albert Geller and moved to San Gabriel Valley in 1949. After attending Arcadia Schools she went to UC Berkeley and graduated from UCLA in 1967. Carol taught Kindergarten and first grade in the Torrance School District for 10 years. After her teaching years she was involved in the PTA, National Charity league, Helpline and other volunteer organizations.
Carol is survived by her husband, Arlo Sorensen, two daughters and their husbands, Mandy and Derrick Goldstein, Cory and Josh Logan, grandchildren, Tyler, Connor and Sydney Goldstein and Ryan Logan, her mother Margaret Geller and her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Susan Geller.
Carol's passion and joy was spending quality time with family and friends. She poured her energy into raising two fabulous daughters. She was extremely creative and had the special ability to connect with anyone, whether it was with a small child, an old friend, or a stranger in a super market. She had a knack for making each person feel special, and her contagious enthusiasm would bring everyone to the dance floor. Carol had a million "best" friends and she dedicated her life to helping others through her wonderful insight.
Services will be at the Palos Verdes Golf Club on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 2:00 pm. A graveside ceremony and reception will follow.
