Carol Jean Moe Shaw, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, at her home in Seal Beach, California. She was 82. She was born on November 27, 1942, in Wild Rose, North Dakota, to Otto and Aurelia Moe, and was the youngest of six children in a loving and hardworking family.
Carol graduated from Wildrose H.S. in 1960 and attended North Dakota State University, pursuing music and voice. In the 1970s, she started her own legal secretary business called Legalettes. She took classes studying accounting and began her new business journey as an accountant at C.E. Jones Ceramics in 1977. In the early 1980s, she became a partner in a new company called Pottery Mfg. & Dist. Inc., of which she was CEO for over 30 years.
Throughout her life, Carol touched the lives of many with their kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for those they loved. A devoted family member, she was known for her charm, quick wit, and love for storytelling and telling jokes! Carol found joy in gardening, traveling, reading, playing cards, and board games. She loved spending time
with family and friends.
Beyond her family, Carol had a passion for helping others. Whether through community involvement, church activities, or simply being there for a friend in need, she made a difference in the lives of many. Her kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on those who knew her.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Aurelia Moe, as well as several of her beloved siblings Duane, Don, Marlene, and Lois. Also preceding her in death were her children, C.K. and Leslie Shaw. She is survived by her son Scott; grandchildren Chanel, Charlie, and Caleb; and her brother, Lyle Moe. Her remaining nieces and nephews will also carry her memory with them always.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1 st at 1pm. It will be held in Redondo Beach at the King Harbor Yacht Club, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the remarkable woman she was. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a Shriners Children’s Charity in her name, continuing her legacy of kindness and giving.
She will be remembered for her unwavering strength, her infectious laughter, and her ability to find joy in the simple moments of life. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
