Carol Ann Katherler

Carol Ann Katherler, a Palos Verdes Estates, CA resident passed away peacefully on September 18, 2014 at the age of 78. She is survived by her Husband, John Katherler, Sister, Joan Wilson, Daughters, Karen Kling and Suzanne Wastvedt, Son in Laws, John "Paul" King and Michael Wastvedt, as well as 5 grandchildren: Lauryn Wastvedt 12, Connor Kling 11, Campbell Kling 10, Ansley Wastvedt 10 and Brooke Wastvedt 4. Carol was born in Aurora, Illinois in 1936. She graduated from West Aurora High School in 1954 where she attained National Honors Society membership. Following high school Carol attended the University of Colorado and was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She also attended summer school at the University of Wisconsin. After college Carol moved to San Diego and become a librarian where she managed classified materials at General Atomics in La Jolla, CA a division of General Dynamics. It was at that time that she met her husband John who was also working at General Dynamics Astronautics. This year they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Carol was an active member in the Kappa Alpha Theta Alum group in Palos Verdes. Additionally Carol joined the Valmonte Neighborhood Ladies luncheon group. She loved seeing her grandchildren, spending holidays with family, and in her younger years enjoyed artwork and needlepoint. We all loved her and will miss her forever.
