It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Carmen Garcia Montano also known as the "Mayor" of Corona Beach. Born July 17th 1927 in Los Angeles, CA to Juan and Gregoria Garcia and passed away April 14th 2012. She passed away peacefully at her home with her daughters Tillie (Chata), Rosalee, and her dear friend Maria by her side. She was also joined by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and close friends that were able to say goodbye. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Montano, sons Tommy (Boy), Steven, Richard, and her beloved great granddaughter Mia Chairez. She was a long time member of the Wilmington Senior Citizens but her passion was spending her summers in Ensenada on Corona Beach with her children and grandchildren. She was joined there by many friends and family members who still remember her fourth of July parties with her famous "Jungle Juice". Carmen will be greatly missed by her daughters, Tillie (Angel) Chairez, and Rosalee Montano. Her legacy will live on through her 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday, April 21st, 2012 at 9 a.m. at Green Hills Memorial Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca.
