Carlos was born on December 8, 1928 in Cajabamba, Peru. After completing his formal education, he served an enlistment in the Peruvian navy. Carlos emigrated to the U.S. in 1948.
His first job in the U.S. was a dishwasher. He also worked as a licensed chauffer while in New York. While living in Newburg, New York he met Dolores Garcia. They married Jene 29, 1951. They moved to California in 1958, living in Los Angeles, La Puente, and Torrance.
Carlos worked at the Biltmore Hotel, the Hollywood Palladium, Hollywood Race Track, Santa Anita Race Track, and the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Carlos retired, as Executive Chef, from Northrup Aircraft Corporation in 1995.
Carlos Alcalde, aged 94, of Torrance, passed away on December 29, 2022, after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife Dolores, a daughter Alicia (Atkinson), and sons Carlos, Albert, and David, five grandchildren, Eric (Atkinson), Ryan (Atkinson), Caleb, Rebeka, and Steven, and ten great-grandchildren. A private inurnment service was held at Green Hills Memorial Park in Palos Verdes. A Memorial Mass will be held Feb. 13, 2023 at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in San Dimas.
