Capt. Sam Jabuka

June 7, 1930 — November 23, 2017

Sam Jabuka of San Pedro passed away peacefully on November 23, 2017 at the age of 87. Sam was born to Augustin and Krunaslava Jabuka on June 7, 1930. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Katherine, daughter Kathleen (Randy) Atwood, sons Sam (Lisa) Jabuka and Richard Jabuka; nine grandchildren, Christopher Atwood, Lindsay Sanner, Bryan Jabuka, Kevin Jabuka, Joshua Jabuka, Justin Jabuka, Ashley Jordan, Jason Jabuka and Jacob Jabuka; three great-grandchildren, Bryan Jabuka, Eva Jordan and Joseph Jordan. Sam is preceded in death by his brothers Nicholas and Anthony Jabuka along with his sister Mary Kastelan.
Sam graduated from San Pedro High School in the summer of 1949. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He later went on to work as a fisherman aboard the Anthony M as an engineer, Wilmington Transportation as an engineer and later a tugboat captain and finally with Jacobsen Pilot Service as a port pilot.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 3rd from 4pm to 8pm in the Villetta suite at Green Hills. Funeral Services will be Monday, December 4, 2017, 11:30 a.m. at Green Hills Memorial Chapel with burial to follow.
