Calvin James Morse

October 17, 1937 — January 3, 2023

Our hearts were broken and filled with grief on the night of January 3, 2023. Calvin James Morse passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 85.

Calvin “Cal” was born in the town of Peterborough, New Hampshire, on October 17, 1937, to Dorothy and Winslow Morse. One of his favorite childhood memories was that his parents would send Cal and his older brother, Dave, to Camp Mowglis every summer. The boys would sometimes write a letter to their parents describing all the wonderful and memorable experiences they had at camp.

Cal attended Phillips Exeter Academy for high school with his brother David. They attended the same schools together, even through college. Calvin graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and dedicated 25 years to Allied Signal Aerospace. On December 15, 1992, Calvin married Marissa, and they were blessed with two beautiful children, Matthew and Kristen.

Cal was always very diligent with his health. He enjoyed competing in marathons, playing tennis, and working out regularly.

Cal made it a mission to dedicate most of his time to his children. He never missed one of Kristen's softball games, school performances were a must, and he was always an attendant for one of Matthew's Tennis matches. Some of the fondest memories Calvin created were the long road trips up the mountains and the sea breezes of the many cruise trips. Then, of course, Lake Tahoe was a family favorite. They were creating memories on the ski slopes, sledding in the winter wonderland, and enjoying the beautiful lake's breathtaking landscape.

However, the trip Calvin looked forward to every year was the annual family reunion at The Alisal Ranch for the Annual Morse Family Reunion, where he could be surrounded by the people he loved most. Perhaps inspired by their childhood, Cal and his brother Dave brought their families together to Alisal each summer to enjoy golfing, tennis, fishing, horseback riding and attending the infamous BBQ nights at the lake. This wonderful and enduring family tradition created precious moments and invaluable memories over the years.

Calvin was preceded in death by his daughter Kristen. She will guide her father into Heaven to be amongst the Angels and our Almighty God. We will forever treasure and keep in our hearts the beautiful times we shared together in our hearts until we meet again.
