On Tuesday, April 12th, Bob Nava passed away at the age of 74. He was born in May of 1941. At the age of 3, his father was killed in action on April 12, 1945 at the Battle of Okinawa. Bob enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1959 and served as a machine gunner in the Infantry as well as a Military Policeman. In 1963 he joined the US Army Airborne and fought in Vietnam with the 1st Calvary Airmobile Division in 1965 and 1966. He joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1968 and served as a policeman for 21 years, including two assignments in the Harbor Division in San Pedro. He spent over 30 years defending his country and protecting the citizens of Los Angeles. Bob is survived by his wife, Marcy (Culver) Nava, his son, Robert Nava Jr. and three grandchildren. Funeral services honoring his life will be held at Green Hills Mortuary in Rancho Palos Verdes on Saturday, April 23 at 3pm.
