Betty Lou Garrison

Betty Lou Garrison was born in Wilmington, California on September 18, 1925 to Marshall and Agnes Mueller, Betty was one of four children with Richard, Dorothy and Marshall Jr. as her siblings.

Betty graduated from Banning High School in 1943. Betty married Robert (Bob) Garrison in Long Beach, California on December 8, 1946.

Betty and Bob were blessed with three children, Tom, Diana, and Larry. Betty and Bob bought their first (and only) house on Eckleson Street in Lakewood in 1951. It was there in Lakewood where Betty and Bob raised their children and met many of their lifelong friends.

While raising the family, Betty was initially a stay-at-home mom, and became quite the accomplished cook and baker. As the kids grew up, Betty took on part-time work at a local income tax firm and later, full-time employment as an attendance clerk at Bellflower High School.

During retirement, Betty and Bob enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and they went on cruises to Alaska and The Panama Canal. After Bob’s passing in 1997, Betty continued living in Lakewood and was active in her Trinity United Methodist Church and volunteered with Meals- On- Wheels for many years.

Betty passed away in Anaheim on Sunday, February 11th. At the age of 98. She leaves behind three children, seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. All of her siblings and their spouses had passed before Betty.

Viewing and a Memorial Service will be held on February 28th. At Green Hills Memorial Park 27501 S. Western Avenue in Rancho Palos Verdes. Viewing will be 9:30 – 10:30am, with the Memorial Service at 11:30am. A reception will be held after Betty’s services at the El Torito restaurant in the Lakewood Center.
