Benjamin Arnold Hodor
April 17, 1969 to September 8, 2018
It is with overwhelming sadness that the family of Benjamin “Ben” Arnold Hodor, age 49, announce his passing from glioblastoma on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at his home in Palos Verdes Estates. The unexpected diagnosis of the disease in May 2017 did not damper his love of life and his devotion to his family, friends and coworkers. He was active and vocal about his fight and his appreciation to the doctors and staff at Cedars Sinai, in particular, Dr. Jethro Hu, for providing the best treatment plan possible to combat the disease. Ben was born in Newport Beach, California on April 17, 1969 to parents Marjorie and Albert G. Hodor. The family moved to Orinda, California where Ben attended elementary school. They later moved to Palos Verdes Estates which remained his home for most of his life. He graduated from Palos Verdes High School in 1987 where he met the life-long friends who remained by his side throughout his illness to the day of his parting. Ben studied economics at UCLA and later pursued law at Southwestern Law School. However his skills and passion led him to a career with the Lexus Corporation, first at Longo Lexus and then at Lexus Santa Monica where he served as Sales Manager. He loved the energy and challenge of sales, but of all he loved his customers and coworkers. They were, in all essence, his extended family.
Benjamin Hodor is survived by his wife, Joon Hee, and their two children Hannah (18) and Jackson (12). He also leaves behind a sister, Susan Hodor, cousins Marj Gwinn (Rick) and Peter Ferryman (Robin), brother-in-law John Sheller, (Tamara Hensick), nephews Matthew Sheller (Pam) and James Sheller (Jen) and niece Madeline Hodor. He is predeceased by a sister, Mary Sheller, brother, James Hodor and parents Marjorie and Albert G. Hodor.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in his name to a brain cancer treatment and research center or organization of your choice.
