Benito Carrasquillo

On November 4, 2013, Mr. Benito Carrasquillo was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven. He passed away peacefully in Harbor City, California with his loved ones at his side. He was 86 years old.

Benito was born on June 3, 1927 in Luquillo, Puerto Rico. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Isabel Acenscio. Shortly thereafter, the young couple relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where Benny worked as a mechanic. In 1968, Benny and Isabel, along with their seven children, headed west and settled in San Pedro. It was at this time that he began his 30-year career as a lead vehicle & equipment mechanic for the Palos Verdes Unified School District. Always an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends.

A devout man of faith, Benito accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1974. He attended services at Iglesia Zion for more than 25 years.

Benito is preceded in death by his daughter, Alice. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Isabel; his sister, Cheli Mendez; his children Benito Carrasquillo Jr., Johnny Carrasquillo, Carmen (Jeff) Carrasquillo-Tsuno, Charlie (Ramona) Carrasquillo, Fernando (Lupe) Carrasquillo and Nelson (Mary) Carrasquillo; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
