Benita "Benny" Ramos Manuel
Benny passed away on January 9, 2012 at the age of 82. She was born on July 15, 1929 in Laoag City, Philippines.
She was a graduate of ILocos Norte High School. She later attended St. William's College Philippines and graduated with a teaching degree, but subsequently became a social worker.
After marriage, she followed her husband to Honolulu then later to Van Nuys. Later, she resided in San Pedro. While there, she worked briefly at the U. S. Postal Service. She then became a teacher's aide for 5-1/2 years at 15th Street Elementary School, sometimes assisting in the cafeteria. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at both Seacrest Convalescent Hospital and later, at Los Palos. Afterwards, she then worked at Harbor View Rehabilitation Center where she retired.
During her capacity as a CNA, she would love it when her husband cooked his specialty items: lumpia and pancit.... for co-workers and residents to enjoy.
Upon retirement, she was already residing in Carson, where she moved to in 1988.
She is survived by her loving husband, Teodorico; son, Leander (Ursula) Manuel; and daughter, Larrinelle Manuel.
Funeral services will be held Wed., January 18, 2012 at 11am in the mortuary chapel, with interment to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
