Barbara Louise Shock Larson passed away peacefully in her home on September 27, 2021 at the age of 94. Barbara was born on August 2, 1927 in Long Beach, California, the sixth of ten children born to Florence Butte and David Leon Eynon. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and sisters, husbands William Kenneth Shock and Einar Erik Larson, and son-in-law Michael Beckley. Barbara is survived by her daughters Sandra Cowell (Steve), Kendra Poser (James) and Barbara Beckley. She is also survived by step-daughters Janean Guest (Ralph) and Linda Simmons.
She was Grandma Barbie to ten grandchildren: Jenny Cowell (Ryan Grasse), Stephanie Cowell (Tom Drury), Brad Poser (Verity Pang), Jonathan Poser, Kent Beckley, Katie Beckley, Amy Sims (Jason), Nicholas Guest (Jessica), Naomi Vizmeg (Steve) and Katie Vogel; and nine great grandchildren: Emerson, Everett, Larson, Lavender, Ava, Monet, Annika, Angel and Joe.
Barbara was known for her beautiful smile, grace and loyalty to friends and family. She was fun loving and had a wicked sense of humor. After graduation from Torrance High School in 1945 Barbara worked at the Terminal Island Naval Shipyard. She met her first husband Ken while he was in the Navy and they married in 1946. Barbara and Ken built their first house in Torrance then moved to Harbor City in 1954 where they raised their three daughters and lived until Ken passed away in 1970. After Ken’s death Barbara continued to run their company Torrance Screen and Glass until 1975 when she sold the business, married Einar Larson and moved to Rancho Palos Verdes where she lived for more than 45 years. Barbara was an avid bowler, and Einar introduced her to lutefisk, golf and a new group of friends that became extended family. Her memory will always bring a smile as she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be laid to rest next to Ken and Einar at Green Hills Memorial Park. The family requests that you remember Barbara by making a donation in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choosing. That would bring a smile to her face.
