Barbara Cardella passed on September 1, 2021, at 83 years of age. She received the Lord in her early years, and for some time attended her community church. She loved socializing and talking with people. She received fulfillment in helping others. She completed 12,095 hours of volunteer service at Torrance Memorial Medical Center over 36 years. She was President of Torrance Memorial Auxiliary and received many awards and recognitions for her impactful contributions and commitment to serve others. She graduated Santa Monica High School, worked as a bookkeeper in the grocery business and was a member of the Retail Clerks Union.
Barbara led a simple life, but surely enjoyed traveling and her Porsche 911 Carrera. From the Caribbean to St. Petersburg, there was always amusement in hearing her stories of where she went and where she was going next. Driving a stick shift Porsche well into her 70’s was a representation of her sporty and adventurous side.
Barbara loved her family. Most of her best times were at family gatherings. With Barbara there was always something to laugh about. Some of her memorable and frequent comments were, “None of my business”, “Whatever”, and at holiday gatherings…“The food was better last year”. She was often strong willed and had a tough temperament, yet at the same time she had the biggest heart.
Barbara was married to Nick Cardella for 28 years until his passing in 2002. She had two prior marriages to the late Cordell Welling and the late Jim Raymond. Barbara is survived by her brother Marvin, son Richard, daughter Teresa and stepsons Dan and Dominic, Philip, Tony and John, and stepdaughter Chris. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves in our heart’s cherished memories.
