Austin Nayagam

April 20, 1949 — April 4, 2025

In Loving Memory of Austin C. Nayagam
April 20, 1949 – April 4, 2025

With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Austin C. Nayagam, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and community pillar, who departed this life peacefully on April 4, 2025, just shy of his 76th birthday.

Born in Kerala, India, in 1949, Austin carried with him the warmth and values of his homeland when he immigrated to the United States in 1974, settling in Chicago, Illinois. A year later, in May of 1975, he married Thresia and together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others. They moved to Torrance, California in 1981 where they have been since.

Austin was the beloved father of Jane, Juno, and Jayson, who affectionately knew him as Achacha. He was a guiding presence in their lives and extended his care to his son-in-law Danny, and daughters-in-law Erica and Kimberly, welcoming each into the family with open arms and an open heart. He was the proud grandfather of Bond, Rêve, Logan, Caelan and Sloane, each of whom brought immense joy to his life and in whom his legacy of love and quiet strength lives on. He is survived by three brothers, two sisters and several extended family who reside in India.

Beyond his family, Austin had deep love for the Malayalee community, to whom he offered unwavering support, guidance, and compassion. Whether helping new arrivals from India find their footing or lending a listening ear, Austin was known for his humility, hospitality, and deep commitment to helping others succeed.

He will be remembered for his steady wisdom, soft-spoken nature, and steadfast faith. His life was a testament to generosity, love, and quiet leadership—a life well-lived and deeply felt. Though he is no longer with us, his memory and influence endure in the lives he helped shape, the community he uplifted, and the family he loved so deeply.

In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests donations to the medical team at Torrance Memorial Lundquist Lurie Cardiovascular Institute who took such great care of Austin for the last 29 years. https://www.torrancememorialfoundation.org/donate
