At the age of 90, Aurelia S. Torres of Carson, California, entered Heaven’s gates with peace and grace to join the love of her life, her husband of 70 years (married 1947), on his birthday, April 9, 2019, now lovingly together with our Lord.
She was born in Cavite City, Philippines, in 1928 and graduated from Cavite City High School. She continued her education at Cavite Fine Arts & Fashion School and in 1957 earned a degree in Dressmaking.
With her Citizenship Rights, she traveled to live in the United States in 1959, bringing her 4 young children, where they met up with their father stateside, Hernando Torres Sr., her husband, who had arrived one and a half year prior dedicated to the preparation of their much anticipated arrival.
Aurelia, Mama, Gramma, Auntie, Tita, or as her friends would call her, Auring, was thoughtful, kind, and most of all, generous. Although, she took the time to clip coupons just to save a few pennies and had her frugal ways, she was always ready to lend a helping hand and assist others when needed; including help turn their “American Dream” into a reality. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends anytime they would come over and visit.
Mama was wonderfully devoted and survived by her 4 children (oldest to youngest) – 3 daughters: Ludivina, Blessie, Edwina, and only son: Hernando Jr. She was a loving Grandmother to Dave-o, Blesjovan, Avon, Michael, Veronica, Matthew, Tommy, Steel, and Nathan, a Great Grandmother and an Ate to many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Vicky Manlapaz for your loving kindness and caring of Mama.
The family will receive friends at 11am on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Green Hills Memorial Chapel, 27501 S Western Avenue in Rancho Palos Verdes, California following a memorial service & burial ceremony celebrating her life. Reception to follow.
