Born May 27, 1921, Syracuse, NY, and passed May 14, 2012, Torrance, CA. Graduated Syracuse HS with track and boxing scholarship to Univ. of Florida. Boxed and won Golden Gloves. Was in ROTC and served in World War II with US Army Tank Corp and then 101st Paratroop Division. After his service, earned Masters degree and coached at Bronson HS, FL. Visited Hollywood, CA. and met the love of his life, Barbara and they were married 61 years. Coached at Monroe Jr. HS in Inglewood in 1954 and later became Vice Principal at Morningside HS, where he trained and announced at basketball games. Retired in 1982 and became the Torrance Senior Commissioner for 20 years and produced "Senior Scene" for Torrance City Cable for 18 years. He was a Kiwanis member for 40 years and loved fishing, the Lakers and spending time with his family- wife Barbara, 3 daughters; Candy Callen, Dawn & Russ Pond, Heidi Ward, 3 grandchildren; Kelly Pond, Kevin and Michelle Pond and Kari Ward and 2 great-grandchildren; Maddison and Kaden Pond.
