Armida shared her joy, compassion, and zeal for life with all who had the opportunity to meet her. Born in 1932 in San Pedro to Leonardo and Helen Solorzano, Armida fondly referred to herself as a person from the coast. She was steeled with fortitude and determination, growing up and living through the Great Depression and World War II.
Armida was a devout Catholic. She graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Long Beach. Armida married Frank Ram in 1971. They soon settled in West Covina and they became active parishioners at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Covina.
Armida attended Woodbury College. She worked as an administrative assistant for many years in the shipping industry, and later at Covina High School and the Baldwin Park School District.
Armida also became active in many youth activities as she raised her sons, including, a soccer team mom, Cub Scout leader, as a room mom and PTA member at Sacred Heart, and auxiliary member at Damien High School in La Verne.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, travel, and, most of all, her friends and family. She was the consummate fan and cheerleader of all Los Angeles sports teams. After her husband Frank passed away in 2000, Armida became an active member and leader in the local chapter of the Widowed Persons Association of California, organizing excursions, fashion shows, and other outings, and an avid reader of Murder She Wrote mysteries.
Armida is survived by her sons Frank and Steve, daughters-in-law Rosa and Jacqueline, and grandchildren Frank, Joanne, Stephen, and Brandon. A Rosary will be on January 4, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. and funeral services will be on January 5, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.; both services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 344 West Workman Street, Covina.
