Antonia Silvas

May 11, 1933 — October 23, 2022

We are saddened to announce that our beloved Toni Silvas passed away on October 23, 2022, but are comforted knowing she is with the Lord.

Toni was born in Miami, Arizona in 1933, the youngest daughter of Felix and Antonia Padilla and was dearly loved by her older sisters Stella (Magana) and Ofelia (Manzo). Her family moved to San Pedro in 1932 and Toni became a Harbor Area lifer attending Bandini, Dana Jr High and San Pedro High School, Summer Class of ’51. Shortly after graduating, Toni married her sweetheart Armando (Chino) Silvas and together had 4 children raising them on the fun-loving 229th Street neighborhood in Carson. In 1988, being empty nesters, Toni and Chino moved to Torrance where they enjoyed spending time with their growing family and grand parenting. They shared 54 years of marriage together before Chino passed in 2006.

Toni’s legacy lives on through her 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren that she loved dearly. She is survived by her sister Ofelia, sister-in-law Dora Hernandez, children Andrew Silvas (Laura), Cathy Sanchez, Christina Johnson (Don), and daughter-in-law Becky Silvas. Toni was predeceased by her son Ernest Silvas and son-in-law Bob Sanchez. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held November 3, 2022 at 10am at St. Lawrence Martyr Church in Redondo Beach and internment to follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
