1941-2022 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Antonia Buono our loving mother, grandmother, sister and wife. Antonia (aka Antonietta) was born April 12, 1941 in Ischia, Italy and entered eternal rest on June 22, 2022 in the comfort of her home. Antonia moved from Italy in 1973 after becoming the second wife to Nicolaniello Buono. They resided in San Pedro and together raised 4 children. She lovingly took on raising Frank, George, & Teresa before Oreste was born. Antonia & Nicolaniello worked very hard to raise their family and together transformed their business of Buono’s Market to Buono’s Pizza becoming pioneers of authentic Italian dishes to their town of San Pedro. Antonia was known as a very joyful, loving, kind and generous person. At home, Antonia loved to cook & bake, and she was great at it!! All holidays & events that she held she lovingly prepared numerous dishes that had every course from antipastos to desserts, the true Italian way to entertain, she never disappointed. Her kindness was always shown by giving to everyone whether it be leftovers from her fridge, a loaf of bread, cookies, candies whatever she could share, she would with great pleasure. She truly gave from her caring heart! Antonia also had a great love for children. When her first Grandson Matthew was born, she took on being an amazing Nonna by caring and loving him immensely. With each addition of grandkids that followed Jonathan, Nico, Giorgio, Isabella and Giovanni they all became her pride and joy! She thoroughly enjoyed making her traditional Sunday lunch of pasta and meatballs because she knew how much the children looked forward to coming over and eating together. Antonia was a devout Catholic and enjoyed attending mass weekly and even when she no longer was able to attend in person, she welcomed nuns into her home every Sunday to receive communion. She also was a member of the Italian Catholic Federation at Mary Star of the Sea Parish. And would look forward to going on their field trips to the casino’s as she loved to gamble. She always would dream of winning big because of course, she wanted to share with the less fortunate. Again, she always thought of others! Antonia was survived by her children, Frank (Tim), George (Oti), Teresa (Mario) & Oreste Buono, sisters Brigida Di Costanzo, Vincenzina Di Costanzo, many nephews, nieces and grandchildren. Was preceded in death by her husband Nicolaniello Buono, her brother Andrea Di Costanzo, mother Margarita Di Orio, & father Oreste Di Costanzo. Funeral Mass will be held at Mary Star of the Sea Parish in San Pedro on July 7, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. With internment at Green Hills Memorial Park. Vigil Service at Green Hills on July 6, 2022 at 4:30-8:30p.m. Rosary at 6:30p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Save the Children or any humanitarian organization as a memoriam for Antonia.
