Anthony was born in Bellingham, Washington, on January 20, 1930 to John and Ancica Svilicich of Vis, Croatia. They settled in San Pedro in 1935. Anthony passed away at age 88 on September 12, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
Antone attended San Pedro High School in the graduating class of 1949. He lettered in track and field. He was a carpenter and local contractor building many homes and apartments in our town. As a second career, he loved working as a longshoreman as a part of Local Union 13.
Anthony always had a wide variety of hobbies and interests. From watch repair, photography, auto mechanics, and flight, to gardening, collectibles, reading, history, and exploring museums. He always enjoyed sharing his hobbies with visitors to the Svilicich home. In his later years, he had some great times traveling with his family.
Anthony met Phyllis Ann Matosin while attending San Pedro High School. They met again later, began dating, and married on June 2, 1954. They remained married for 64 years. Their three children Paul, Lynn, and Michael, learned their love of the outdoors from their dad, as well as their work ethic, and value of a healthy life style. His life lessons reached out to all of our friends, as well.
Anthony led an adventurous and full life. He will be truly missed and forever in the hearts of his loving family and friends. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the caretakers and hospice workers that helped Anthony pass through this life with such peace, dignity, and love.
