Anthony Camello went home to be with the Lord, on Friday October 4th at the age of 64. He passed at home surrounded by family and loved ones after a valiant battle with cancer. Born June 7th, 1949, Anthony was a lifelong resident of San Pedro graduating from San Pedro High School in 1967 and working on the waterfront for over 30 years. He met the love of his life, Diane and they married on March 23, 1974 at Mary Star of the Sea Church.
Anthony's kindness touched the lives of many people. For those that had the pleasure to meet him, knew instantly his love was genuine and his heart was large. His commitment to the Lord was evident by the life he lived. A strong believer of Christ, his faith remained unwavering during his 11 month battle with cancer. Anthony will be greatly missed but his legacy is a true inspiration to those he left behind.
Son of the late Gennaro and Antoinette (Pugliese) Camello, Anthony survived by his wife Diane (Mattis) Camello and his five children Jennifer (Joe) Espinoza, Aaron Camello, Breanna Camello, Rachel (Tim) Grierson, and Jacob Camello. Anthony was blessed with three grandchildren: Annelise and Anastacio Espinoza and Quinten Grierson. He also is survived by his brothers; Joseph (Carol) Camello, Nicholas (Lillie) Camello, Michael (Sue) Camello extended siblings; Denise Mattis, Dave (Christine) Mattis, Tim (Kim) Mattis, and Tina Mattis and many many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 10th from 4-7 at Green Hills Mortuary. Memorial service on Friday, October 11th at 12pm at Rolling Hills Covenant Church. For more information visit
