Anne W Schneider

September 21, 1925 — April 12, 2024

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Anne Schneider on April 12, 2024.

She was born Anna Jean Lillian Walker on Sept. 21, 1925 in Oak Park, Illinois, a suburb just
outside of Chicago, to her parents, Charles and Janelle Walker. When she was 10 years old, her
mother died, her father remarried and the family, brother Sydney and sister Charlene, both
deceased, moved to California and settled in Pasadena. Anne attended school in the Pasadena
School District, and 2 years of collage at Pasadena City Collage during World War II. After the
war, Anne attended UCLA, she joined the Sigma Kappa Sorority, majored in Zoology and
received her teachers credential and taught in the Pasadena School District.

On June 18, 1952 she married Albert Schneider and had 5 children, Charles Albert, Teri
Anne, Kenneth Henry, Douglas Walker and James Robert. In 1958, the young family moved to
Rancho Palos Verdes when Al was transferred to the US Customs House on Terminal Island as
Chief Chemist. They became charter members of St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church and when the
children were in school, Anne went back to teaching. She taught Leland Street Elementary
School and Cabrillo Elementary school in the Los Angeles School District for 22 years.

After the children were grown, Al and Anne traveled the world, to places like Machu
Picchu in Peru, the Brazilian rain forest and down the Amazon, Tahiti, Fiji, Australia, New
Zealand, Russia, Europe and Asia. Then her husband Al Died in 1994.

After that, Anne spent her time gardening, reading and listening to classical music and
spending time with family. She volunteered at the Assistance League of San Pedro/South Bay
and joined the San Pedro Garden Club, where she was President for a time.

Anne is survived by 4 of her 5 children, 8 grandchildren; Erin and Ryan, William and
Matthew, Melinda and Jennifer and Timothy and Gabriel and 3 great grandchildren; Zita,
Bosco, Ryder and 1 on the way.

In lieu of flowers, Donations in Anne’s name are welcome at The Assistance League of San
Pedro/South Bay.

The Funeral will be private but there will be a Celebration of Life service at St. Peter’s by the Sea
presbyterian Church, 6410 Palos Verdes Dr. S., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275 @ 1:30 PM on
May 15, 2024.
