Anna Marie Mendez

Anna Marie Mendez, age 70, died unexpectedly at her home in San Pedro on Friday, May 13, 2016.
She was born on September 26, 1945 in Long Beach, California. She was a lifelong resident of the Harbor Area. Having graduated from Banning High School in Wilmington, she then worked at Bemus Bags and for the City of Carson. She ultimately worked as an ILWU Marine Clerk, Local 63 encompassing 21 years as an ILWU Union member.
Anna Marie loved San Pedro and was a resident for 40 years. She also enjoyed the company of her beloved dogs, first Brandy, then Bourbon, Coco, and now Maya.
Anna Marie was generous and caring. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones.
Anna Marie is survived by her son Gabriel Islas; mother, Anna Marie Mendez; siblings, George (Cynthia) Mendez, Becky (Xavier) Gurrola, Ronnie Mendez, Gary (Jennifer) Mendez, and many nieces, and nephews.
Family, and friends are invited to commemorate Anna Marie in the Historic Church at Green Hills, 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes 90275 from 12 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. with burial service to follow on Friday June 10, 2016.
