Ann Brinkley Olson passed away peacefully on March 13, 2015 at the Glastonbury Health Care Center in Glastonbury, CT. She was 95.
Mrs. Olson was born on June 12, 1919 in Norfolk, VA. to Edward Stanley Brinkley and Alma Stanworth Brinkley. Her father was a teacher, administrator and, eventually, superintendent of the Norfolk public schools.
She was educated in the Norfolk public schools graduating from Maury High School in 1936. In 1940, she received her BA in English from Hollins College (now Hollins University) in Roanoke. After graduation, she returned to Norfolk to teach English at Blair Junior High School and Grandby High School. She also taught at Greenwich Academy in Greenwich, CT.
She married George Aaron Olson of Chicago, IL, then an officer in the US Navy, March 21, 1944 at the Church of the Good Shepard in Norfolk. She is survived by her two sons, George Edward Olson and David William Olson, five grandsons and two great grandsons. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Brinkley Thumm, and her brother, Clifton Stanworth Brinkley, both of Norfolk. Her husband George and daughter Nancy predeceased her.
Burial will be at the Green Hills Memorial Cemetery in San Pedro, CA next to her husband on March 27, 2015. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in her name to The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, 5526 West 13400 South, #510, Salt Lake City, UT 84096;
