Amy Chavez Sanchez was born November 27, 1933 to Romelio and Sally Chavez in Hondo, New Mexico. While Amy was not her birth name (and we won't include it here due to her dislike of it!), she is believed to have changed her name to Amy before primary school.
Amy lived a long and fulfilling life which included supporting her family and a nursing career. She worked at Mattel for about 10 years while she attended nursing school at night and received her LVN certification. Amy worked a rewarding career as an LVN until her ultimate retirement.
Amy was frequently pampered at beauty salons; she loved the way these visits made her look and feel. She was always adorned by rings, makeup, and other jewelry and she took pride in looking her best. Amy was pleasant and cheerful to all those that she met. She never met a stranger, and extended her warmth even to those that didn't return her pleasantries.
Amy can best be remembered for her joyful smile, hospitable nature and her protectiveness over loved ones. Amy was protective of all whom she loved, and she extended this love to her many friends and family. Amy is survived by her three children, Henry, Cynthia, and Michelle, 19 grandchildren, 46 great grand- children, 16 great great grandchildren. Amy was preceded in death by her husband Henry (2012) and daughters Rachael (2005) and Yvonne (2009).
