Al Balestra, of Long Beach, went home to the Lord on March 19, 2021 while doing something he loved, riding his motorcycle. Al was born on July 30, 1958 in Syracuse, New York to Alfred and Rosina Balestra. In 1977, he moved to California and married Genoveva Balestra on June 8, 1985. Together, they raised two children, a son Alfie and a daughter Natalia in Long Beach.
In recent years, Al worked for the Fullerton School District. He dedicated his life to others in every possible way, leading with confidence as a son, husband, father, relative, coworker, neighbor, and friend.
His passions included traveling, family vacations, motorcycle riding, and boat trips with his beloved friend. Al was a hero to many and an amazing friend to all throughout the 62 well-spent years of his life.
He will be greatly and dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Among so many, he leaves his wife of 36 years Geno to treasure his memory along with his son and daughter-in-law Alfie and Evelyn, daughter Natalia, and precious grandchildren Alfie and Abel. He also leaves behind his sister Chrissy (Bob) Camuglia, two brothers Larry (Kathy) Balestra and Rick (Roni) Balestra, and a large extended family.
Al’s final resting place will be at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 20th at 11:30 am.
