Alexander ‘Alex’ Mendez of Wilmington, California passed away on December 26, 2023 at the age of 53. Alex was born April 29, 1970 in Costa Rica. Graduated from Banning High School in Wilmington, California. He resided in Lakewood, California for the past 21 years. He was a Longshoreman with ILWU Local 13 for 23 years.

Alex is survived by his wife and lifelong partner Lisa Marie Mendez. His sons: Andrew Alexander Mendez, Matthew Anthony Mendez, Lukas Elias Mendez. and his nieces: Alexia Giselle Lopez, Gianna Isabella Lopez.

Alex was proceeded in death by his father Elias Alberto Mendez and brother Elias Alberto Mendez Jr.

He is survived by his mother Marielos Mendez. His brothers Erick Alfonso Mendez, and Daniel Mendez. His sister Marielos (Denny) Alcaraz.

Alex’s wholehearted love set an example of a husband, a father, and uncle. He was a hard worker who loved his job. Alex loved to laugh and enjoy life. He loved his classic Porsche. Alex loved to be adventurous and outdoors with his wife, 3 sons, 2 nieces and dog. He was avid Raider and Dodger fan.

Alex will be greatly missed by many family in laws, nephews, nieces, and friends. Heaven has our Guardian Angel. Until we meet again.

Visitation for Alex will be held Thursday January 18, 2024 from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm with a Vigil service commencing at 6:00 pm at Green Hills Chapel, 27501 S. Western Ave.

Mass will be held Friday January 19, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Peter & Paul Church 515 W. Opp St. Wilmington, Ca. 90744. Preceding Interment at Green Hills 27501 S. Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca. 90275.
