Alexander (Alex) A. Iacono passed peacefully June 26, 2024 at the age of 71 after a two year battle with cancer. He was born November 9, 1952 to Crescenzo (Richard) and Santina (Sandy) Iacono in San Pedro, California.
Alex was a lifelong resident of San Pedro where he was a beloved member of the tight-knit community. He was always kind, and a friend to all. Alex devoted his life to working hard for his family and was a proud I.L.W.U. Local 13 Union Member for many years. He was a proud father. Alex enjoyed coaching his children in basketball and baseball and spent many years as Chief Umpire at Eastview Little League. In the recent years, Alex's proudest accomplishment was his title change to grandpa. Grandpa Alex never missed a t-ball game or chance to spend time with his grand kids, all the while battling cancer.
Alex was also a passionate fisherman. At a young age, he learned to love the ocean by way of his father who was a commercial fisherman. Alex later spent his retired years on the coast of San Pedro, fishing in his beloved boat, the Big Head 2. He cherished taking trips to and from Catalina with family and friends and took his boat out every chance he could get. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and taught his siblings and children how to play.
Alex's fun-loving personality, humor, and kindness endeared him to everyone he met. Everyone that knew Alex, loved him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his three children, Adrienne (Cristina) D'Ambra Sanchez, Alexa (Anthony) Tripple, and Anthony Iacono, grandchildren , Gino and Genesis Tripple, four siblings, Vince (Debbie) Iacono, Maria (Ken) Rubio, Teresa (Mark) Monroy, and Rita (Mitch) Gold, seven nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, and extended family members. Services will be held July 12th, 10:30 AM, at Mary Star of the Sea Church.
