Alexander Campos, our beloved son, brother, and friend passed away on July 6, 2017 in Torrance, CA. Born in Hawthorne and a life-long resident of the South Bay, he was 45 years old. He is survived by his mother, Rosario Campos, his sister Amelia and her husband, Bret, his sister Brigida, his brother Chris and his wife, Rina. He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Campos.
Alex will be greatly missed by his family and by his extended family of friends with whom he shared great joy and much laughter throughout his life. Alex became godfather and 'Uncle' to his friends' children and loved being a part of their lives. As a young man, Alex developed his interest in all things mechanical as well as his love of football and baseball. As friends and family will remember well, Alex devotedly followed all the USC Trojan teams as well as Angels baseball and LA Kings hockey.
Alex worked for Federal Express for 22 years, rising through the ranks in a field that he loved, aviation, and at a place where he would develop even more enduring friendships. He was proud of earning his FAA license as Mechanic in 2008 and of completing the FedEx Maintenance Training Program, becoming an Aircraft Maintenance Technician in 2013.
He loved music and attended many, many concerts with his brother, Chris, and their friends, creating special memories that will endure. Alex was often a quiet, steady presence in the family—and we will all miss his quick wit and great compassion.
A memorial service will be held for Alex on Sunday, July 16 at 10 am, at Green Hills Mortuary, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. We welcome all to this celebration and invite you to wear your favorite team gear or Hawaiian shirt.
