Albert Brewer Moore II passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024, at the age of 70, after a valent sixteen-month fight against kidney/bladder cancer. Albert was born on October 9, 1953, in Santa Monica, California, to Barbara Emma Rosenberg and Albert Brewer Moore Jr. Barbara and Albert were blessed with four boys, Albert, Thomas Roswell Moore (December 31, 1954, Susi), Gregory Stephen Moore (March 15, 1958, Sheree), and Christopher James Moore (March 13, 1959, Julie).
Albert was raised in Torrance, California, and attended Nativity Catholic School through eighth grade, graduated from Serra High School in Gardena, and attended some classes at El Camino College. Albert was an active child who enjoyed playing sports, especially baseball. When he was 13, he was a pitcher on the Torrance Central Little League Yanks and was selected to the Pony League All Star Team. Albert was known for his hanging curve which made hitters bail out of the batter’s box. When he needed to advance a runner or was facing a tough pitcher, Albert would bat ‘Ty Cobb style’ with his hands about six inches apart on the bat. At Serra, Albert ran cross country.
Albert was a journey man clerk at Lucky’s Supermarkets and worked for many years in the metal etching and plating industry. He was very proud of his employment at the Los Angeles International Airport and Boston Market and often shared stories of his experiences. Albert is the unofficial world record holder for bags hauled in one night at LAX. Albert was a very hard worker who strived to please his employers. To our knowledge, he never called in sick.
Albert was a kind and gentle soul who loved his family, and had a quiet, deep faith. He had a witty sense of humor and enjoyed horse racing, biking, driving his truck, the Lakers, drinking coffee, drawing, watching the cooking channel, playing pool video games, and listening to the radio.
In October 2022, Hoag Hospital graciously admitted Albert and about once a month he received immunotherapy treatment. The Moore Family would like to say a very big thank you to Hoag Hospital and Dr. David J. Benjamin and his oncology team. The Moore Family also extends another big thank you to the staff and Dr. Roger Tran at Villa Valencia, Laguna Hills, California.
Albert will be buried with his mom, Barbara Emma Moore, in a private burial on February 20, 2024, at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Donations in lieu of flowers are welcome to the Hoag Hospital Foundation, Hoag Family Cancer Institute.
