Aina Elenora Carefjord

Aina passed away peacefully on January 29, 2014 at the age of 97 with her daughter at her side. She was born in Sweden, Aug. 27, 1916. She met her future husband, Torvald, at a dance and later married in 1936. Torvald preceded her in death on July 17, 2004. Aina and Torvald would emigrate from Sweden in 1949 with their only child Britt-Marie. They settled in San Pedro and remained there all their life. Aina cherished her Swedish heritage and passed down her Swedish traditions to her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Aina was a wonderful cook and hostess. She also loved to dance, gardening, traveling and playing slots in Las Vegas. But most of all she was devoted to her family. Aina is survived by her daughter Britt-Marie (husband Leon Carr), two grandchildren, Craig Carr and Jill-Marie Semmelroth, three great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Austin and Laurin. She will be missed dearly by her family here and extended family in Sweden. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Norwegian Seaman's Church, 1035 South Beacon St., San Pedro, CA.
