Abram Tavera was born in 1927 in Wilmington, CA to Timothy and Ruth Tavera. He was the 4th child of 8 siblings. He is survived by his wife Ruth, two sons Steve and Mitchell, two daughters Janet and Jennice, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He started selling newspapers at the age of 7 until he figured he could make more money diving for coins thrown from passengers on cruise ships. He joined the U.S. Army in March of 1946 and faithfully served during the POST World War II era until February 1947. On his return he started working at a gas station where he met the love of his life, his wife, Ruth Trujillo. On 12/6/2021 they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. After working at the gas station, he started selling cars and then went on to become a Los Angeles Police officer in 1950. He worked for the department for the next 20 years. In 1963, he opened his first Taco Bell and went on to opened 2 more. In 1968 he opened King Harbor Marine Center repairing boats. He spent the rest of his life “going to the boatyard”. Abe died on 12/22/2021 surrounded by his family. He will forever be in our hearts and memories.
